The Berkey family is blessed beyond measure, particularly with the birth of Elijah in May of 2009. Now that the third member of our triathlon relay team is here, we are more focused than ever on enjoying the tremendous blessings of our lives, celebrating our good health and ability to pursue endurance events, and continuing to build a company to support other endurance athletes at all levels. We are here to ensure that you optimize your performance, minimize your chance of injury, and make sure that you compromise nothing in your pursuit of excellence!
Biomechanical Specialist and Founder
I have learned that if one advances confidently in the directions of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.
~Henry David Thoreau
Our mission is to support both professional and recreational athletes in moving confidently, safely, efficiently in the direction of their dreams. Whether it is racing to lead the pack or racing to beat a previous personal best, succuss is the driving force. My goal is to support you as you work towards your goals.
I received my doctorate in physical therapy form the University of Pittsburgh. Since then I have been practicing orthopedic physical therapy throughout Northern Virginia. My professional passion lies in working with athletes from all sports and across all levels of ability, from recreational to college to professional. Faster, stronger, more efficient is the goal.
Research from the world of cycling and running shows that 90 revolutions per minute is the most efficient cadence to reach and maintain peak performance. Hence, the name “90 Revolutions” was chosen to reflect our mission and commitment to all of my patients and clients. This company was founded to educate athletes in research-based, clinically tested methods used to enhance performance safely, focusing of the body’s biomechanics. It was founded to provide products and components that are safe and effective. And perhaps most importantly, it was founded to support athletes in living the life they have imagined and enjoying the successes that eludes those less prepared!
The Personality
Steve tackles all things technical: the biomechanics, the website development, the analytics. I enjoy the human side of this company: building relationships with affiliates and writing articles that explore the emotions and commitments that athletes share. The division of labor fits our personalities. Academically, Steve is the math and science guy. I connect more so with history, writing, and literature. Steve’s post-secondary training is in physical therapy. My undergraduate degree is in special education and my master’s degree is in educational leadership. Steve’s idea of a perfect vacation requires at least three months of physical training for me to keep up. In the end, our unique qualities and interests work together to more fully support the mission of 90 Revolutions.
Baby Eli
Elijah’s indoctrination to endurance training began when he was three weeks old and went for his first jog in the Bob jogging stroller. We reclined the seat to its lowest position and put one of those travel neck pillows up over his head, since his neck muscles were not strong enough to stabilize his head and keep it from being jostled around too much. He quickly learned to stick his tongue out to “catch the wind.” Whatever passions he develops in life, whether it is endurance training or singing in the opera, we are dedicated to teaching him the value of working hard to achieve whatever dream are dear to his heart.
